Thanks to everyone who came out to race and to those who worked to make this event happen. The course turned out to be a bit more than expected, as no teams cleaned the entire course, but most everyone ended with a smile on their faces and a few lessons learned in their pockets (RD's included!).

New UTM coordinate format

MyTopo has recently changed the way UTM coordinate numbers are displayed on their maps. The new format is a blend of UTM/MGRS/USNG coordinate formats. I think the change will be helpful to adventure racers.

Bushwhack Adventures' passports will provide UTM coordinates like this:

The bold numbers identify the grid column. The three smaller numbers to the right of the bold numbers are the easting and northing positions within the grid block.

Racers will see these new UTM formats in use on the 9-1-1 Adventure Challenge map and passport.

9-1-1 Start/Finish Location

The 9-1-1 Adventure Challenge will start and finish at Camp Whispering Pines in Umstead State Park. The camp is accessed via the Reedy Creek entrance to Umstead off of Harrison Avenue on the south side of the park.

We will hold this race unless there are tornado warnings or an active hurricane in progress. Don't miss out, sign up now before registration closes!

Bushwhack Adventures and Bruce Dale are teaming up to bring back the 9-1-1 Adventure Challenge! This 8 hour adventure race will be located in and around the Umstead State Park area in Raleigh, NC and will include mountain biking, orienteering, and a PFD swim. Check back soon for more details.
